Paper Introduction:
Telecommunications policy affects every American in terms of the services they receive and the prices they pay for those services. The issues have become more complex as new technologies are developed and implemented. What was once only radio, television, and the telephone now involves satellite broadcasts, cable, and computer services. A review of a number of recent articles points to the variety of interests addressed and the ways in which telecommunications affect our daily lives today.
Stern (1996) writes about the rewrite of the communications regulations recently signed and points to the many changes instituted by this legislation, a bill made necessary by the development of many new technologies since the last communications bill was passed in 1966.
