They point out that abortions have killed onethird of a generation since 1973. - they argue that a womanhas other options. The future of a standard fetus includes "a set ofexperiences, projects, activities, and such which are identical with thefutures of adult human beings and are identical with the future of youngchildren... These pills work by increasing certainhormones. "Why abortion is immoral." The Journal ofPhilosophy. Larry Bohannon speaks out very strongly againstabortion, calling it :the practice of killing the weakest and mostdefenseless among us" (Bohannon). If women can be urged to think before they act, to take precautionsbefore they have intercourse, and to take the "Morning After" pill ifaccidents do occur, or if rape or incest occur, then the number ofabortions can be cut drastically. Killing the fetus because of her own selfish acts should notbe an option for such women. The viewpoint taken is that life begins at conception,when the process of development begins. The major consequences, he believes arethat killing a person "deprives them of all the experiences, activities,projects, and enjoyments that would otherwise have constituted one'sfuture" (Marquis 189-198) This, Marquis argues, makes killing wrongbecause the killing "inflicts one of the greatest possible losses on thevictim" (Marquis 189-198). Like the Intellectual Viewpoint, he alsobelieves the choice should be made before conception takes place, notafterwards. 22 June 2 4. A woman is fully aware that ifshe engages in such activity, there is a possibility that she may becomepregnant, and therefore she should take responsibility for the child ifthis happens. 9 July 2 3. Bohannon blames the feminist movement for creating a mythicalstruggle between men and women to further their political goals. The National Association of Pro-life Nurses points out that 99percent of abortions are done for convenience, and that since Roe vs Wadein 1973, 44 Million deaths have been caused by abortions (National).Everyone should be stunned by these statistics. These pills do not interfere withpregnancy but are believed to either inhibit ovulation or preventimplantation, and work up to five days after unprotected sexual intercoursehas taken place (Intellectual).
