Arnold's regret carries on to this day as diversity education becomesan obsession in the nation's classrooms. Dogmatic Wisdom: How the Culture Wars Divert Educationand Distract America. Diversity education too oftenreinforces the "melting pot" theory by stressing that "more cultures arebetter" without every taking the time to study any one culture in detail.Furthermore, the so-called culture wars of conflicting cultural values inAmerica only serve to embarrass and/or suppress unique cultural values andpractices across the nation as people move to assimilate in the mainstreamas they are led to believe that the culture wars are the fault of their ownvalues.
